Damir is a guy in his 30’s with a foreign background who grows up in a small town in Sweden. He dreams of a better life, of being successful, of feeling like a real Swede and of being respected – the good life.

He moves to the big city of Stockholm hoping those dreams will come true. He changes his name to Jonas, a typical Swedish name, gets himself a small apartment in the suburbs and starts working as a dishwasher at a posh restaurant in Östermalm, a fashionable part of the city. But Jonas is still not happy. His life quickly turns into a daily routine where each day only consists of work and sleep.

As time goes on, however, he is able to show his skills and gets promoted – he becomes a waiter at the restaurant. As a waiter he enters the world of success that all of his guests live in. He is now a part of their world, yet so far away from it. One day a young girl enters the restaurant. Her father is a successful businessman. The girl’s name is Julia and Jonas falls in love.
